What is Oesophagus in Human Body?

The chewed food is then pushed from the mouth into the oesophagus. The oesophagus is a large tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach.

The oesophagus uses wave-like muscular movement to push the food. These waves-like movements are called peristaltic movements and process is called peristalsis.
